Is it safe?
Yes. We take extra precautions and lay down strict ground rules to ensure safety. Crime occurs in every country, but we have never had an IMM team experience a major incident of crime. Our genuine partnership with missionaries, pastors and other community leaders in the country you serve ensures there is always someone looking out for the well being of your team. Plus, remember that IMM will provide a Certified Team Leader to actually go with you on your mission trip. One of their prime responsibilities is to look out for your safety.
What about bugs, snakes and other poisonous creatures?
Most countries have their fair share of these types of creatures. While most IMM teams never see them, our team leaders and country hosts are equipped and ready to handle the situation should it arise. Working with full-time missionaries and local leaders provides IMM teams with security on every front that would be difficult, if not impossible, without them.
How do I get from the airport to the ministry location?
Remember that IMM Mission Adventures include a training session (we call it IMT) prior to leaving on your missionary journey. In most cases one of the IMM training staff at IMT will also be your IMM Certified Team Leader. Your IMM leader will travel with you to your mission location, and they will be fully briefed on what to do once you arrive in country.
How does transportation work within country?
All transportation within the host country is included in the cost of the trip and will be arranged by IMM. Most often, teams will be riding in buses or other local transportation. Most IMM teams have dedicated transportation, but public transportation is also used when appropriate.
What airport do I fly into?
If you are going to a “Popular Location” you can find this information in the appropriate country description. If you are going to a “Custom Location” we will discuss the airport location, or more likely IMM will be arranging these details for you.
Can I eat the food and drink the water?
All food and drink provided by IMM during trips is safe for consumption. You will be advised at your IMT and during your trip regarding food and drink that is safe or that should be avoided.
Will there be an opportunity to buy souvenirs?
Yes. There will be a time set aside to buy souvenirs if so desired.
What kind of food will we be eating?
Your food will be flavorful and generally made from local resources. Local foods can vary. In general, if you are a picky eater you need to get over it! We do not mean to be rude, but you will experience food that is different than you are used to. Flexibility will serve you well in this area. If you need, you can always carry extra snacks with you to satisfy your food cravings and/or needs. If you have genuine food restrictions due to medical reasons, be sure that IMM and your group representative have been fully informed of these needs.
